I remember getting banned from our national parks during Rona.

It made zero sense so we went around the tape & hiked anyway.

They were fining people but never caught us.

Yeah, they tried the same thing here.

With the threat of forest fires people here are willing to give up their freedoms because of the off chance some idiot willl throw a cigarette butt out when he’s walking or hiking. The same idiot could throw it out of his car while driving on the highway.

I’m not one of those people willing to give it up. There’s a long history of the government here telling certain peoples they aren’t allowed to use the land in the ways they see fit.

Fuck the plough and the horse they road in on.

Funny thing about forest fires, they are started by lightning not cigarettes, and rhe reason they are so devastating is because the government prevents indigenous land management (controlled burns during the cool season reduce the fuel load and prevent larger fires during the hot season)

Then they increased logging in state forests by 800%

Then Barnaby Joyce privatised our rivers so that multinational corporations like nestle could pump them dry and sell the water.

This is exactly what my two brothers who are firefighters say. They would also add that counties and cities zone really retarded. Letting homes be built in high burn area without fire breaks and land management systems around them.
