Just got KYCed for the 2nd time by my bank in Japan.

I can’t stand this legacy system. They make everyone feel like a criminal.

That's the goal, cat man. It's fucked and I'm sick of it too.

And I'm pretty much atop a golden horse living and earning in the US. It still sucks ass. I can't imagine

At least they'll eventually end up sharing your information with someone who shouldn't have it.

Stay strong!

Respectfully asking and very interested in the Japan btc situation :

- Is it not possible to live on btc in Japan? Meetups, a good network of friends, for p2p to get whatever fiat you need for vendors who refuse btc?

- I hear that Japan is still strong on cash so shouldn't there be a way to be basically in btc and cash only?

It’s practically nonexistent here. Tax treatment poor. Where I am there are no meetups and absolutely nothing bitcoin related. Def. Exists in Tokyo but super small scale for an area as large as Tokyo.

Have you reached out to the ones who are trying to do btc things in Japan to see if they could jumpstart some connections for you? Nicolas Doirier (btcpayserver), the diamond hands guys, the ones who organized the bitcoin tokyo, etc?

A bitcoiner friend of mine will be moving to Japan and we're hoping for as much btc-living as possible.

Can you speak a little bit of Japanese?

I moved to an area (different country) where basically no one was using it (and most were pretty against it). After a while, everybody I interact with is using it and I can live on it for a good part.

A real pain in the neck!

I’ve moved my operations to GMO and for now, it’s quite smooth.

SMBC, UFJ and Mizuho are slow giants.

I'm fresh off a 2-week ATM card block (which happens to me 3-4 times a year). 💁‍♂️

Fuck 'em. 🤙
