Self-custodial is a nonsense word that needs to yeeted into the sun. It's Custodial, and non-custodial. If it's custodial, someone other than you maintains custody of the coins. If it's non-custodial, nobody else has custody of the coins. Self-custodial is a confusing misnomer. Let's keep it simple, and accurate.

I call it „actual ownership“ and explain private keys as a share in the network.

Shane- I'm watching a Saylor presentation (from 13 years ago) and he is talking about how the electro-mechanical physical terms used to apply, but no longer do. (Physical Books and magazines and physical keys, etc etc in 2011).

the cost of interacting with bitcoin without relying on a custodian is a function of how many other people are doing that. if you convince more people to do it, then it will become more expensive.
