Really hard to watch this fight with a keen eye and say Du Plessis won.

Strickland landed a lot more strikes and they were much cleaner, he slipped / parried almost all of Du Plessis hand strikes, he checked a ton of leg kicks, was never controlled on the ground and got up immediately every time he was taken down.

Strickland took rounds 1,3,5 fairly clearly imo and round two was extremely even. Not mad at that round going either way. Looking forward to the rematch.

DDP won due to the take downs. It's MMA not kick boxing

He did absolutely nothing with the takedowns and Strickland got up immediately every time. A wash.

I agree with that. The judges saw takedowns. I think it could have gone either way. If it was a "fight to the death" match I'd still be unsure who would win, though I think it would be Strickland

Yeah I agree. I think DDP also coming forward more and throwing a lot of big winging punches (even though most missed) had something to do with it. I’d like to see the UFC revamp their judging so judges get a chance to look at fight stats and action more closely before awarding a winner. Not likely, but as an educated combat sports fan that’s what I’d prefer.

Those overhand rights were just shots in the dark. The leg checks from Strickland looks like a fucking robot. Bro didn't even have to look; just starred him down.

Strickland is a fun fighter to watch. Fluid, fast straight punches and his defense is among the best in MMA (imo). Dricus is too clunky for me but the guy is a savage. Just not a big fan of his style.

Some UFC scoring is a real bag of shit. I didn't watch that fight but I've been watching UFC since about UFC 60 or so. (Yes, I'm no young pup)😂. Unless you KO or submit your appointment, there's some real bad calls...!!

Absolutely. I’ve been watching for a long while too and I have seen some utter shit decisions. This wasn’t among the worst but I think it was the wrong decision.

I’d really like to see the judges changed from the same corrupt / incompetent people they’ve had fucking things up for years to actual fighters and give them time to review the significant shots / fight stats BY ROUND before they make their decision.
