Hackers for a cult classic, not a TV show but Mr Robot rocks too.

not a movie*

The Matrix

Not a movie, but Cyberpunk edgerunners is pretty awesome

If you want anachronistic comedy... The Net!

Easy bladerunner

The thirteenth floor

Obviously šŸ™„ there is no second best to me 🄰

ā€œIn Timeā€ with Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried. It is cool because it demonstrates the concept of inflation and the importance of money in aligning incentives.

I never saw this back in the day but Amanda Seyfried is šŸ”„

You can say that two times. And super talented.

It’s definitely her acting talents that I’ referring to and also she can really act

Very ā€˜adjacent’ perhaps, but one short series that has stayed with me is Continuum.

The acting is so-so and as often happens, the final episode is shit, but the themes explored are interesting and very relevant today.

While socialism/communism is clearly not the way, I also fear ā€˜monopolistic’ capitalism.

If you watch I would be very interested to hear your thoughts.

I watched it almost ten years ago, so even my thoughts might be different today šŸ˜…

The commie overtones were a bit much buch but they didn't push it as a solution either. That and Rachel Nichols are the only reasons I watched the entire series. They kinda lacked the libertarian leave me alone groups. Or I don't remember them in the movie.

Yes agreed, which is why I am more interested in it from the angle of my concern over the monopolistic corporations I see being built today, and that were represented as an issue in the series.

That said, there wasn’t a solution offered as I recall, so it’s more a case of ā€˜here’s a problem’ and I guess we already know that.. but I don’t see it talked about much amongst libertarian bitcoiners.

There is much talk of issues with govt which I understand, but not about the issues with massive, multi-national corporations.

For example, while Elon is clearly some kind of genius in some ways, he is also building the ultimate surveillance/control panopticon, when you consider his group of companies, including Starlink, Tesla, Neuralik, Optimus, SpaceX, Grok and X.

We don't talk about it because it's only a real issue when it's cronyism. Corporate & State in bed pyshing regulations that keep competition out. Otherwise it should be one on one interactions and if a corporation becomes the main provider of a product or service it's because the costumers approve. Monopolies are government creations. Without gov coercion the panopticon could only exist if people agree to use the product. Like all the KYC regulations and communication backdoors the gov requires of corps. Those are gov/fiat created problems. People signing up to use grok ai and handing over all their details voluntarily is their problem and should not be legislated beyond breach of contract.

Just my .02

just saw Antitrust. Wild.

I was just watching Elysium. It’s a nice cyberpunk healthcare one two punch
