Bitcoin doesn’t need governments, but bitcoiners can certainly be impacted by governments. If it gets bad enough, people have to move or engage with the black market. It can affect the timeline of adoption and have material negative effects.

I am not saying to defer to people who are way too focused on CO2. But it is good to point out to people why bitcoin is important, why demand response is useful for the grid, how small bitcoin’s footprint is compared to other important things, etc.

Because a lot of normal people genuinely don’t know. They think bitcoin is a gambling thing that hurts the environment. Even Bill Maher hates it and doesn’t get it.

There is still a lot of low-hanging fruit to help them see what it is.

True maxi will push you run your own node in order to max level of decentralization of Bitcoin.

There will always be two directions but Bitcoin should be just duplicate of Bitcoin whitepaper. Copy of that document is everywhere so just read it until gets closer to you.

This attack is easy to do again and again. One has to know the technical details and think about it at least a bit to see how disgenuine it is.

Also if you have any preconcieved biases against bitcoin, this is just a confirmation so why would you invest in the research of the other side viewpoint.

Even my friends that are not against bitcoin, even own some, but don't care about the technical stuff will send me links to these attacks semi-concerned. Again and again. The evergreen is the "one transaction is equivalent to x tons of co2". So I explain it patiently again and again.

I'd also like to say "it's all nonsense and not even a discussion", but instead it's always a good opportunity to talk about bitcoin with normies when they honestly want to listen.

It's an attack, so let's use judo moves to redirect the attackers energy into something good.

Yeah, advocating to keep bitcoin legal is a pretty high priority for me. Because, among other things, I live in the real world.

Do you advocate to allow P2P bitcoin selling without a money transmitter license? Do you advocate against KYC/AML requirements? Do you advocate for tax free zaps?

What does advocating to keep bitcoin legal mean if every use case has been completely captured by the State?

Very valid point
