All too often I see a great post. Others see it as significant too. It has boosts/reposts, emoji reactions, several comments/replies ... AND NO FUCKING ZAPS!?!?!?
Value for value doesn't work if you don't leverage it.

Honestly boosts are the most valuable signal on nostr for me right now. Because content curation is so heavily user dependent a boosts can help fill out the feed of newer users keeping them around long enough to find the signal they are looking for. Plus if you have a badass quote to go along with the boost then you can get some zaps too! Boost on plebs!
likes are good too especially if you have feeds for them
What client are you using for this?
If you like something, is it not worth zapping as well? "Likes" don't give any real value. Someone can buy real goods with Sats.
I think likes offer a way to express a reaction to a note. They are definitely useful. It will be interesting how the ediquiete around zapping, liking, boosting/quoting develops. Lots of lingering habits from old ways of sharing information.
I "like and not zap" posts about Bitcoin and Nostr, if I like the post. I do the same for content that I like, but is not an original creation of the author.
For the rest of the posts with original content, or if it really just makes my day, I will give my minimum zap amount, if not more.
Is the post valuable or not? If so, then zap. That is the true meaning behind "value for value", since other icons/reactions are subjectively just an emotional payment.
zaps can be bought but not necessarily likes, making likes more valuable
also hardly everyone is bought into bitcoin, and tying a social media identity to the most popular immutable ledger doesn't seem quite smart
