Grassroots art is where you will find the most joy. (Ok museums and galleries are lovely) but! Not this scammy shit. Art is now the front for many of these grifters. Anyone now saying we’ve got him or welcome aboard Peter can also do one. 
So true. Grifters always use art to obfuscate their grift. It’s so disrespectful towards art, and artists. I was even naive and thought there was a sincere desire to support artists at one point. Really all the NFT and now ordinal grifters just want my bitcoin. Disgraceful.
Beyond that, it actually does real harm to, and hurts real artists, by confusing the marketplace, and hurting people who genuinely would support real artists.
Being honest and hard working gets you buried in the depths of grifter garbage.
Hurting consumers drives them away from the market.
Sad.
It’s actually put art in such a mediocre place. I think a lot of people have been naive like you say. It’s taken so much away from the actual craft of making and creating art.
I’ve seen so many artists take the easy road and sell out. I can’t name many that didn’t create a collection that was ready to drop any day.
So much to be sad about fiat art! There’s definitely a market for good artists and grassroots art. The percentage who become international stars is less than 0.5% of artists. Driven by fiat and connections and not by exceptional art.
