Cash app is a legacy system that has a huge user base in the musician community. Most every artist I know has nostr:nprofile1qy88wumn8ghj7mn0wvhxcmmv9uq32amnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwv3sk6atn9e5k7tcqyrrkzl5yxd7xz8rat72pkdd3a3gl9tnwnaq64jtpvzfd2y8pc227qxxwq2n or Venmo. So regardless of the legacy KYC this change enabling direct (distributorless upload) and the direct payment in app allowing fans or listeners to send an artist money is a huge step forward.

Cash app has the combined infrastructure of Tidal, Block, Cash App and nostr:nprofile1qyxhwumn8ghj7mn0wvhxcmmvqyehwumn8ghj7mnhvvh8qunfd4skctnwv46z7ctewe4xcetfd3khsvrpdsmk5vnsw96rydr3v4jrz73hvyu8xqpqsg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q8dzj6n so I have a lot of hope that these legacy tools might one day transform into tools that serve artists directly. The direct upload without a distributor is a big deal. Artist in the US have to pay to distribute their music that then don't ever get any return. It's not perfect yet, but it is a really good step forward for a legacy system.
