just off the top of my head, other broken shit:

ndk: endlessly spams users for auth, doesnt auth. pr submitted in july and ignored. 🚨

anything built with ndk: nostrlogin, endless number of apps 🚨

shipyard: lost all my notes and cant use the calendar picker. 🚨

0xChat: fucks up your relay lists. hangs if you follow too many people.

...

anyone sweating yet?

Woke up and chose violence 😆

been swearing for quite some time but they all mute me now

see, remember when i was bitching out fiatjaf over concurrency bugs in his go-nostr library? remember that?

yeah, i was right, and that bug may have cost my employer a lot of opportunity

anyhow, i'm not going to suddenly turn back and sign up again for twatter or facebook i already left those shitholes because of the overt manipulating and advertising they engage in

my whole specialty in dev has been primarily relating to cryptocurrency and social media since i started in on it at the end of 2015 and i'm not changing course 10 years later no way

just have to do shitty work on stuff that i don't feel entirely comfortable with, but i have a nice team, i mean, one of my colleagues showed me his substact the other day, and i was like "this dude is our people" and the boss is great and he has a knack of rustling up funds from all kinds of degenerate shit and paying it to us to build stuff that isn't totally shitty and is actually trying to achieve something honorable

so i do what i can on both sides of this

if some decent, non glowing person were to appear who wanted me to head up a serious nostr project and we had enough to pay a solid team of about 7 devs with all different specialisations i'd be totally down for that, of course i'd need a CEO to do the VC wrangling and PR language translation but you know what i'm saying

I always have to go to metadata.nostr.com after using 0xChat and restore my profile data (including relay config) because it screws up my profile data everytime. BTW, metadata.nostr.com should be given some sort of award. I can't tell you how many times it's saved my ass. And I feel like it's flying under the radar. More people should be made aware of it. It should be included in some of these new onboarding tutorials and walk throughs people are working on. As far as I'm concerned, it's Nostr 101 material.

How often do you backup?

Whenever I make a change to my profile metadata or content, or my relay config.

Yes, I made it.

Thank you so much for creating that essential tool. When I'm onboarding a new user, it's one of the utilities I make sure they bookmark. 🙏🎉

I'm glad you find it useful.

nope

you want more for that list?

🤙🤣

devs who do not respond to support requests (ever), bug reports or feature requests == no-zaps.

problem solved.

AI generated code is keeping this ship afloat.

Couldn't post my recipe to zap.cooking because it kept saying I need to upload a pic, but I had uploaded a pic, so I just wrote it in Habla.

Nostrudel doesn't show me all of my notifications or only does so really slowly, and auth relays are a trial to use on there.

Coracle hates my signer, as does Highlighter. Highlighter hates my entire computer, apparently, and is generally wonky and buggy.

I couldn't adjust my settings on Wikifreedia, which he apparently solved by getting rid of the settings page.

We used NDK to build #Alexandria and we are now extremely motivated to switch to #Aedile.

It's just funny because our app is only a prototype.

But so are almost all of the others.

They're sprawling, aging prototypes.

almost like the toys of a bunch of kids who have broken into a toy factory and have played with making their own customisations

Lego software, but the blocks are all chipped and cracked.

yeah, i have noticed several of these issues myself

i so would love to be able to work as lead on a serious nostr client/relay combo project... been trying to sell the idea to my boss but he hasn't been able to find anyone to throw money at it so far

I had to give up on some developers, completely, as they didn't respond to my GitHub or GitWorkshop issues. Not even a 👍🏻 or anything. Just deafening silence.

Okay, I can take a hint. Bye.

hopefully as us cereal devs get to know each other better and we are all prodding at whatever avenues we can muster towards something happening will crack open some big treasure boxes and get something super cereal started

in the meantime, just polishing and sharpening the toolkit when i get the chance

We keep adding more devs and more tickets, so that we can increase the scope of the project.

i do what i can, as i can... the current main paid work i do at the moment has got a bit more interesting recently as i am building a deterministic random simulation of userbase with randomised user data that will be used to build out a very complex fuzzy matching system, so, yeah, it's not boring, but i was really keen to get a bug report on realy and confirm that it was not a realy bug but a client bug 😉

People underestimate how difficult software development is and how much room there is for error and how much maintenance a project requires. They build buggy stuff, throw it out on the market, and then it immediately begins to rot.

Vaporware.

yeah, vapor as in methane and hydrogen sulfide haha

Meanwhile you don't have my money to help fund better devs because I have no income because I'm busy panicking about Digit constantly, and you don't give a fuck
