I hope I'm not speaking too soon here but damn its nice to not have impersonators of large accounts trying to scam the crap out of you everywhere here.
The intimacy of nostr really is nice. It can't remain like this for ever I imagine, but i guess in 12 months time we will look back on now and be like, 'those were the days'!!!!

It sure is nice. This feels like a small chat room at the moment. The protocol and ecosystem are set up to adapt. Initially paid relays will sift out the noise. When that isnāt enough, other mechanisms will spring up.
I see a world where we have multiple modes in our usage. Most of the time weāre chatting and publishing on reputable relays. Occasionally when we want to venture out, we turn on a public relay to find interesting nuggets that for whatever reason havenāt jumped into our view.
The main risk I see is that this could breed strong echo chambers. Surely there will be relays catering to certain thought tribes. The big win will come from creating strong relays that are accepted and frequented by many walks of life.
Agree. The misinformation issue and echo chambers are a real risk. I hope an open source AI can assist with this process of misinformation and echo chambers. Transparent for all to see the code but advising us honestly if we are heading down a narrow path. I'd trust some open source indicators on my profile more than an anon telling me. Not sure if others would be the same
Misinformation takes time to root out. Novel ideas and studies havenāt had time to be proven, so we need a platform that allows them to get enough air time to be vetted while not causing semi-permanent damage. Think of the number of large news items in the last three years that were initially labeled misinformation but are now accepted on all sides as truth. Open AI can hopefully accelerate the process of identify the bad stuff but it still needs healthy debate and research.
Smoking on planes was kind of ugly even when I was a smoker. The little ashtrays in the armrests got full and skanky after about 3 cigarettes.
Totally. I would hate it as a non smoker. But in my case my dad talks about it like the God old days of freedom!! Couldn't think of a better example on the fly. It prob wasn't the best example tho!!!!
I lived through it and it still blows my mind a bit. Smoking on planes, the ānon-smokingā section at a restaurant that always smelled like smoke, feels like a different life.
