As someone who's been on the periphery of #crypto for a while. something amuses me.

The polarisation of this space is reflecting the wider #society. This is evidenced by people taking absolutist positions where they're not warranted.

So let's dispel this. #Bitcoin won't be the only coin standing, because not everyone wants the same thing.

Some people want the pure money of #monero

Some want the #ecosystem #ethereum provides

Some want the instant payments of #XLM

And it goes on.

So most #altcoins will fail, but not all and even those that do fail will fail slowly as they're redundant or superseded.

People are messy and people use #btc so #BTC will be messy. Deal with it. It doesn't really matter.

Yeah the toxicity here probably drives people away from cryptocurrency as a whole by the millions. We need to separate the people here who want to exclusively make money and those who care about the principles

One of the things that troubles me is how you'll see these slogans saying #study #bitcoin but they don't really mean it.

I make a real effort to learn and #btc is a great idea, but it's not a final solution, at least not yet.

"What we traditionally call Elliptic Curve Cryptography (working in the group of points on an elliptic curve over a finite field) is vulnerable to an attack by a quantum computer running Shor's algorithm and is thus not considered a Quantum-Safe or Post Quantum Cryptographic algorithm."

So we will always need the #maths more than we need #economics. That's an inconvenient fact.

Yeah cryptocurrencies are some of the most complicated pieces of software in existence. Not only do they rely on large amounts of cryptography, they heavily rely on concepts such as economics and distributed computing. As a result many people don’t take the time to comprehend it. If they did they would realize that #bitcoin is just the first stepping stone in a long journey.

While the first step was important, we need to move on instead of trying to stay here and build L2 networks instead of fixing the actual platform

sometimes bitcoin-nostr feels like a rich kids club.
