I'm Silner on Simplex chat

But ironically those who say they always lie are also lying when they say it :)

In the past, all social interaction was fragmented. We went to different pubs and clubs. We lived in different towns and cities.

Most people were well known in their social circle but practically unknown in the next town.

Fragmentation didn't seem like a problem.

Why is it a problem now?

I think, eventually, we'll have to pay people something like the average national wage to have children.

It's one of those things that seem inconceivable right up until it's impossible to see an alternative.

It's a bit like mobile phone use in that respect.

What do the #nostritches here think? #asknostr

We had one lesson on world affairs in our last year. It was taken by our maths teacher.

He did a ninety minute dash from gengis khan to the wipe out of the arawaks.

It was only years later I realised why he did it. People who hate socialism use the ussr as the example.

People who hate capitalism use swimdlers as the example.

Words like love and hate actually describe behaviours.

Words like capitalism and socialism only describe people.

Welcome Matthias. You've made a good start with the introduction.

Following subjects is one way I like.

Well it probably won't mayyer for bitcoin. A lot of quantum computing businesses are saying that. Apparently some networks like ETH will be a lot mOre vulnerable.

The truth is usually more boring than the hype.

Some kinds of Web cyphers could be I just trouble but they'll probably have some kind of matrix cryptography in place before that matters.

I must admit I'm starting to wonder if Wales was ahead of the game with their wind turbines.

Ecology aside, they are largely independent of oil gas prices which may yet come back to bless them.

On the other hand the young un made so many enemies he lost his tag partners so it's harder to call.

On a semi serious note. I think Tesla could go to zero. It could be the biggest fall in history.

That sounds like special offers at supermarkets. It's actually worse cos you have less chance of getting what you want before it's sold out.

Once upon a time that was the only way to keep up. Google used to have an amazing RSS feed creator but like a lot of the best stuff they made they got bored and took their toys home.

Sorry. I realise reminiscing is little use but it's half an hour past bedtime here in the UK and I'm rambling tired :)

It occurs to me that a #libertarian should support a falling birth rate, because beyond the short term pain should lie self reliance and devolved power structures.

What

Oh wrong person. Sorry. I was trying to welcome a new arrival and missed :(

Is that what causes that distinctive smell in the countryside especially? Never knew that.

Well there might be plastic involved at some point, but if it is it will be purely functional, and most likely in the hip region :)

Here's the #Bitcoin pitch without the marketing fluff.

If you can afford to invest in #btc long term there's a decent chance it will be worth your risk.

The most significant risk is that all value will be lost as the world population shrinks.

That risk is as real for bitcoin as it is for gold or platinum.

It doesn't matter what you hoard, you're betting there will be enough people around to want it.

That proposition uses to be a given, but that was then and this is now.

As someone who is ageing, I can assure you grace is a myth :)

It's actually relatively easy if you're not connected to the Internet at all, but you'll have to be far enough away that it can't detect a network at all, that or you need to be able to disable WiFi on your device.

Actually I think that's quite a popular opinion. I know quite a few people who think the same.

I'm on the fence but I certainly don't think you're in a minority there.

I'd like to believe Spinoza, that you can understand reality, but I suspect wittgenstein was closer to the truth in his early days when he argued that you couldn't use language to explain reality.

This has sometimes been translated as him saying as philosophy is bunk, but I don't think that's quite fair.

But back to the question and my answer would be wittgenstein.

It's exactly the same reason people choose windows and macos over Linux.

And the same risks and rewards apply. #Apple and #Microsoft would have to disable users computers at #trump's order.

But there's no executive order he can sign to turn off my #manjaro box

There's part of me thinks we could be second guessing #satoshi forever and while it's good fun it's not really useful.

In a way I do that with #Matrix #chat because it works on every device and allows me to save photos of real world objects.

I could never trust zuckleberry finn enough to enter his house but I can see how some would.

As someone who's been on the periphery of #crypto for a while. something amuses me.

The polarisation of this space is reflecting the wider #society. This is evidenced by people taking absolutist positions where they're not warranted.

So let's dispel this. #Bitcoin won't be the only coin standing, because not everyone wants the same thing.

Some people want the pure money of #monero

Some want the #ecosystem #ethereum provides

Some want the instant payments of #XLM

And it goes on.

So most #altcoins will fail, but not all and even those that do fail will fail slowly as they're redundant or superseded.

People are messy and people use #btc so #BTC will be messy. Deal with it. It doesn't really matter.
