i took a 10 year old phone, rooted it, flashed a fairly recent version of degoogled android on it and got everything working, built up termux so i can do almost everything i do on a laptop. funny how usable all of it is with an external keyboard. then i can grab it, and use it as a phone. last step is flashing a silent link esim to one of JMP’s esim adapter sim cards, so its a stand alone device. telling you all this because im setting up Obsidian on it now.. 🤓

Good on you! We need more people doing this, and we need to normalize using custom, privacy-respecting ROMs.

A cuople quick follow-up questions for you though. Which OS did you end up with? And what kind of external keyboard are you using?
