Maybe. Unlike last time a lot more people are aware of it now and aren't making up random shit about it out of fear.

Still not personally ready and I think that's fine. When I am ready I'll probably run 2 nodes. A monitoring node and an activation node.

But let us go back up here. What about a new op code scares you? And specifically, what about CTV?

Nothing scares me about it. It’s just unneeded. So why add it if no one can say what it’s good for?

Again, this is more about the unintended second and third order effects that affect everyone.

Was taproot needed?

Required for operation or security? No

Needed for LN channel privacy and script efficiency? Yes

Efficiency and privacy you say!

There are some coinpool protocols that would benefit from CTV too, unlocking some serious non-interactive wins for privacy.

To each their own, I would prefer to use Cashu for privacy and efficiency purposes rather than changing the code and introducing a potentially buggy softfork.

You'd rather use custodial shitcoins? 🤔

I used to think the same thing till I learned what it was..

I was a fedimint contributor and now work on eHash (blinded signatures for mining shares).

It's a custodial shitcoin. But it's the best we have given the privacy and data useability tradeoffs.

Can you link it? I hope people get a lot out of our notes this morning. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
