I think people are putting too much weight onto things close to their situations.
In other words, I bet most people who are for this change, run or operate in some service or wallet that deals directly with customers who are constantly asking “what are sats? How can I buy bitcoin?” So they think this is a huge problem that needs to be solved.
However they don’t realize that all of those questions (and probably a significant volume more) will flood in from those same and new customers asking why their bitcoin is worth so much less, or why they got tons of bitcoin but couldn’t withdraw it, or who created all this new supply!? It’s not gonna fix basic questions that people have due to a lack of familiarity with Bitcoin. It’s just gonna create more confusion by not even having static definitions to go with the fact that all of this is new for people.
Saylor has lost some supporters round these parts but his “you don’t change Bitcoin, it changes you” motto still seems apropos
