#bitcoin is not a #shitcoin (#altcoin), but it is most definitely cryptocurrency. while it is important to separate shitcoins from bitcoins. bitcoin is the first established cryptocurrency. please don't confuse people.

Bitcoin is not crypto. Bitcoin contains crypto elements but its distributed network and community is what makes Bitcoin unique from all other crypto currencies.

You are talking about linguistics, your thread means nothing. Below is a google definition of cryptocurrency, which does support your argument. I can agree with this on the exception that shitcoins stop calling themselves cryptocurrencies. If you want to fix the terminology go talk to the shitcoin community.

Let me put it this way, buzz words kill definitions. Crypto has been over run by shitcoins, this is why Bitcoin is not crypto. Yes it was the original crypto but it has shredded that language because of the filth that has moved in. Don't complain to me, go complain to the bitcoin marketing team.
hate to be the professor of harsh reality here but bitcoin is crypto. your response makes no sense. yes, bitcoin was crypto and it still is crypto. if that word bothers you, then so be it, it still doesn't change the fact that it is what it is. pv π€π»π
It was before the definition of βcryptoβ changed to mean scams. My old keychain from around 2015 is a relic of a bygone era.

The term 'crypto' is from 'cryptography' basically. In that sense Bitcoin is cryptocurrency.
But the point is clear:
Bitcoin is BITCOIN.
No common noun is required. Just the proper name is enough and clean, and confusing.
Any common name for Bitcoin helps shitcoins. nostr:npub1h882a66p0zj5n69s2u8nfzev4f97lzfnlcej84z78p6uqxge5tpqlupz20 is correct in this regard.
