The transport, or lack there of might be a factor… people moved more.

If you add 10,000 steps into your day it’s hard not to stay lean or get leaner.

I’d place a small wager NYers in the 1930’s did more than 10,000 steps (6kms)/day without even trying.

My grandmother walked 6miles to and from school each way each day in the 1930’s.

When I was a teenager everyday I walked 5 miles to and from my girlfriend's house to smash. No regrets. 😆
