I think it’s fake too. Or if it is real, part of the problem the establishment has on its hand is that Satoshi “disappeared” (I think he suicided, legit depressed dude, probably - genius, but suicided), and the other main guy died prematurely, and by then the code and miners were already decentralized enough that They couldn’t wrest back control of what they’d created.

What writings I’ve seen seem to be a bit ho-hum, I’ve got good ideas, let’s try, but not entirely enthusiastic. Not your typical overly optimistic entrepreneurbro style. Also, there’s a story about the coincidence of a PhD student who was studying in Oxford or Cambridge? around the time of the whitepaper who’s timeline, education, and intersts lined up very neatly with most of what little was known of ‘Satoshi’, and he committed suicide a few months after Satoshi’s last online post, if I remember the story correctly.

I haven't done a deep dive, but another email I read implied that MIT staff made the allocation decision, not Epstein. They did use money Epstein had gifted to the MIT Media Lab.

So, my understanding is that Epstein gifted money to MIT, and then MIT decided to use some of the money to fund the three core developers.

It's also clear that "controlling" the development of Core was desired by multiple parties.
