What’s the best, privacy-focused, easiest (for less tech-savvy ppl) alternative to the whole google suite of services (esp email/shareable drive/calls/calendar) for a team? nostr:note146xvqjra9cc4s78ugtrwvq320f8atmu0utyu876f7365dtf5cp8qwwsxvc

Proton’s suite is pretty nice from my use of it

Thanks Tatum, will check it out some more, love their email, haven’t tried the Drive.. see they have a Calendar too now 👍 Don’t see conf calls yet, but we could use Keet for that I think

I concur

UI/UX is quite good, on par with google imo

Ive thought a lot about this. My business is trapped in the google suite at the moment. I think the easiest transtion combo would be proton, which covers emails, calendar, drive...and for ease of use compromise telegram for chat / calls / screen share. Thats where im gonna push my business. Id say simplex for calls and messaging but gotta think abt employee transition.

With proper education & training during the swap I don’t think you’d have a problem.

Change is always uncomfortable especially when it’s significant.

But that suite should give you more control over your businesses data & privacy/security upgrades for your employees and you.

You could self host an ftp server & setup remote access to those who need it.

Good luck

Right, part of it is definitely getting everyone on board easily and keeping the flow without hiccups.. then again, worth the challenge for long term privacy

Ur right ur right...and i run a mtg business so since there aint any fking loans... nows the time to do it 😅😭

Nextcloud is pretty cool.

You can even host your own, so you own all your data.

Thanks never hear of them. Do they have the full suite of products, or at least mail/calendar/calls/drive?

yes, best choice nextcloud - on most linux you can install it as snap-package. in 5 min you are up and running for testing.

or check here for some "free hostings/free plan" - https://github.com/nextcloud/providers

For email there is Proton Mail or Tutanota

For shared documents and collaboration, I've had good experiences with other people's instances of CryptPad. You can also host your own.

The above platforms have calendars, but I don't have experience there enough to say which ones are practical.

If you need drive space for random sharing, "Mega.nz" is good unless the file is large. In those cases the recipient needs to download their app. 🤦🏻‍♂️

For video calls there are random Jitsi servers to use; or do this self-hosted too.

Nextcloud with Onlyoffice has been working well for my small business. If you're less tech savvy you may need to hire someone to help set it up and to be there for infrequent troubleshooting. Feels amazing to host it myself and worth the little trade offs.
