Programmers are just people who build things with computers and code. They will not be replaced, they will be augmented the same as an engineer with a graphing calculator or modeling program who previously had to do all calculations by pencil and paper.

People always seem to think “this time is different” with technology even though when we look back in history this has happened a thousand times and every single time the people were saying “this time is different.” Jevons paradox holds true, when things are easier to create, we just demand an order of magnitude more of that thing.
