We're so early. People still think that a Nostr address is verification when it's only a human readable format for your public key.

Thanks for clarifying it.

Itโ€™s not, but you canโ€™t blame people when you repurpose the same checkmark that major social media platforms use to denote verification. Itโ€™s like putting a ๐Ÿ›‘ sign at an intersection and being surprised that people think they need to stop.

Oh I agree. I've been trying to educate people that clients are causing confusion with their checkmarks for 5 months now. One client added the checkmark and then all of them followed suit because that's what we're used to seeing over the last decade across social networking sites.

There is no check mark on the gossip.

I also think clients have not fully figured what overall purpose that they want to serve. Once they figure that out, the design choices will make more sense.

What is the little person with checkmark next to its head that is next to my name?

Uh. What client are you using?

Damus

People are still calling them "accounts" instead of identities...

That's fine, IMO. That's going to take a lot longer for people to grasp that. We'll get there eventually. Hell, I probably even say account accidentally sometimes.

When will Plebstr change this to say Nostr address? ๐Ÿซ
