In what way? The efficiency of the DHT and gosssip protocols need a little improvement but the standards for making interoperable hashed content seem to be a good foundation to build from

I think what IPFS needs is a node system to help propagate sharing. If multiple file hosts have a CID, it works fine. But for something that is a new CID, it's difficult to get it spread around. Especially large files.

Bittorrent v2 is really good at having shared merkle trees across torrents

I made an OpenSats application proposing integrating WebTorrent with lightning network and Nostr through a special client for streamers.

Haven't heard from OpenSats since January, I guess they weren't interested.

Yeah, that has been my strategy, handle long term content propagation outside the core IPFS protocol.
