I honestly take my storytelling skills for granted. The skills are the difference between a good laugh or life lesson and putting someone to sleep lol

I’ve realized as I’ve gotten older that success in the western world (at least) is largely due to being a good storyteller. Sales, getting a job, romance, interpersonal relationships all depend heavily on storytelling.

Very true. This is how you get laid and how you get into positions of power.

I’m not a good storyteller.

Lol. Work on it, you can always get better. Try to identify where you are weak in storytelling then consciously work on improving that area.

Isn’t that the roadmap to becoming a stand-up comedian? :-)

Or a novel writer

The storytelling formula is pretty straightforward. Start with a setting which is the exposition. Build up tension as the problem arises and really explain how the problem is a problem. The stress, anxiety, fear are all important emotions to focus on and captivate your audience. The climax is the solution. This is the punchline. It’s the most important part of the story. Delivering this well is essential. Then explain how things turned out after. People will love listening to you if you can do this.
