27 hours into a fast. Aiming for 3 days, maybe 4.
Discussion
That's pretty extreme 👀
Have you ever done one that long?
Yes, couple of times. Want to start doing it more often, after hearing a pod on autophagy
Just finished four. I felt sluggish the first few day but felt my energy return on day three. Stay active and away from food. Good luck! 😀
Good luck!
Keep you safe: lots of water and electrolyte supplements!
I was military in a recent past…my personal record was 7 days in a training camp…I don’t like remembering…it was tough
You won't sleep great the first few days.
My longest water fast was 41 days. I was in my early twenties.
It had to be done.
It saved my life.
About 2018 I did a 21 day one.
I need to get back on the saddle. It's been hard to even try a shorty because I'm under a lot of many different kinds of stressors currently.
On a 5 day fast, you'll feel like you can go on and on cuz you'll feel a lot of energy and clarity. But dizziness can be an issue at times, so keep up those minerals & salts!!!
Slept great first two nights at least
Why have you decided to fast for such a long duration?
Lower inflammation to promote healing of my bicep tendon
Veteran here.
The first 3-3.5 days are, by far, the worst. The neuroscience says that humans avoid repeating experiences that end badly.
If you finish the fast after three or 3 1/2 days, that will be a “bad ending“ - not because you will have been unsuccessful, because you will have been miserable.
I tell everybody that will listen to me: if you do a short fast, do only one or at the most two days. If you’re going to go longer than that, make it seven days.
You will feel like a champion after seven days. After the first three days, it’s a lot easier anyway.
How do you know if it's getting dangerous? Like too dizzy.
It’s never dangerous if you’re healthy and not at 5% body fat or lower
Anyone got any information how to do these right? I.e. How to hydrate correctly, what to eat when you finished the fast etc.?
Just add some salt to your water. Apart from that I don’t think there is much to fear from just experimenting and listening to your body.
That's great! Is it a true water-only fast?
These days, people define it surprisingly loosely, I noticed.
Water + black coffe in the morning
If you get to day 5 your body goes into a "OK he's not listening" mode and you'd be surprised how far you can go after that.
Enjoy the smell of neighbours cooking, gets intense.
Did you pause your training aswell? Or do you still go to the gym during your fast?
