Sucks for chats with more than 50 members. Low network effect still.
Then Matrix, or even IRC. Anything is better than Telegram and it doesn't matter what kind of client there is if the server is closed and run by some fugitive nouveau riche from Arab emirates.
Matrix where 99.9% of users use matrix .org? Lol, I run a homeserver for 2 years until I realized it was pointless.
I'm not a big fan of telegram either but the UX is unmatched and you can use it with a burner phone and a FOSS client. Sovereign individuals are pragmatic and use the tools that work at any given time without bitching about it.
If TG servers are shutdown that's fine, I won't lose shit. Same if my SimpleX relays go down.
Also most decent FOSS projects only have a telegram support room.
The sooner they go to Nostr, the better for them 😏
Agree, #Telegram was a good promise back then, got the best UI and most advanced features although than appeared to have no encryption.. honestly if I am going back from #SimpleX which now sucks for groups and also 50% sucks for p2p as instant delivery works every other day and my contacts are ready to trash it on my head, I am going back to Whatsapp. Yes its spyes like mad but is easy to deploy and dont have to convince anyone on using it
