I am trying to set up a #nostr relay on a VPS at the moment. Not sure I did the right thing. I executed
docker compose up -d
and I got a long list of docker commands. Not sure if it took lol

I figured out my mistake. I chose an Ubuntu VPS and the directions are for Debian. I think that may be it. I'm going to wipe what I have and start over. Thanks for replying!
No problem! If the issue persists, I wrote a relay that automates many steps of the deployment, also uses docker and is well tested on Ubuntu 22.04 if you’re interested in trying.

nice - thats nostream relay via docker - i really not big fan of ZDB part - u need a domain + free ssl by CA
I have a domain and the SSL I get from CertBot. I am just doing this now to tide me over until I can get an Umbrel server. I'm really excited about this
nice - u look all set ! i did install nostream (no docker) but did go further bc of domain other stuff
BTW for personal/private hidden relays domain/ssl is nonessential
