I've always suggested new people being more selective with follows. It's annoying to remove follows, your feed will be both boring and fast. You're following 1k people? there's not even 1k people here;)

I follow ~800. My experience has been good. I've seen a lot of good stuff. I'm slowly pairing it down.
I used to follow more than that, but my experience was suddenly not so good, and now I'm more selective.
Obviously just because that has been my experience doesn't mean it will feel the same for everyone

If you follow spammers and stalkers, then your own real followers are exposed to them through WoT.

It was fun. It had a bunch of funny parts. The scene pictured was in the first ~10 minutes and made me lol.
That marked it as something I could use online and no one would understand.
My rule is that I follow people who I have interesting interactions with in comments, or who have some opinions or viewpoints that I want to keep up to date with.
I've never understood the "follow hundreds of people" trend.
I think it's well intentioned to make someone's initial timeline lively, but obviously there's no point having a super active timeline of 5 b/tcoin slogans and the same 12 'fuck the fed' memes (unless that's your thing lol).
And this is the advantage of algorithms. Having a "Discover" or "For You" page makes a lively feed for new folks, but there should be a linear, self-educated timeline to fall back on.
