If sats become bitcoin, I can live with it. I’m not dying on that hill. Plus, it might make for a fun event 🍿

But I won’t actively advocate for it. If the community leans that way and people add it into their apps as bitcoin so be it. I am a bit curious what would happen if we switched.

I don’t know how to put it, but I’ll have millions of bitcoin! 😂🤣😂

Io non capisco e non voglio assolutamente questo cambiamento. Bitcoin e' bitcoin e i satoshi sono satoshi. Due nomi splendidi e ormai standardizzati

I don't understand and I absolutely don't want this change. Bitcoin is bitcoin and satoshi are satoshi. Two beautiful and now standardized names

Bits is kinda cool though

I get the curiosity—but casually shifting from sats to “Bitcoin” isn’t just a UX tweak. It’s a monetary reframe with massive implications.

It would inflate the number of “Bitcoins” from 21 million to 2.1 quadrillion, distorting the entire mental model that underpins Bitcoin’s scarcity. That’s not just confusing—it’s a memetic break from everything that’s anchored Bitcoin in people’s minds for 15 years.

Sats have value because they’re the indivisible building blocks of a 21 million cap. Rename them all “Bitcoin,” and the meme collapses. Scarcity perception fractures. And perception is everything in sound money.

Bitcoin doesn’t need inflation—not even memetic inflation.

We should protect the narrative, not dilute it for convenience.

Yeah I understand this argument and many do. I think the media would blow this out of proportion too. There could be a lot of temporary chaos.

That's when you realize that it is in fact a very serious psyop.

it’s not inflation, we're converting all the world's money in existence into Bitcoin

Sure, the supply doesn’t change. But the story does.

Calling sats “Bitcoin” inflates the perceived supply by 10,000,000x.

That’s memetic inflation—not in code, but in narrative.

Bitcoin’s strength isn’t just math.

It’s trust in the meme.

Dilute that, and you weaken the whole thing.

It’s a valid concern for sure

bitcoin = trust

chaos and confusion will happen......people wont ditch their fiat for a currency if they cant even work out what its called.

That’s the thing, the argument is that everyone knows bitcoin and few know sats

When I talk to ‘normies’ about Bitcoin, I show them the top right corner of timechain calendar.

It shows that Bitcoin is expensive, Sats are cheap and both are connected.

whose the few though.......fiat addicts....if your researching bitcoin and you are not exposed to sats, your probably reading the msm. Its a decentralised currency......you find bitcoin, have to educate yourself and navigate fact vs fiction.........its all on you.

You could say this about every update that has ever improved the bitcoin UX yet we don’t

Imagine the confusion in all the tax offices 😆

🤷‍♂️

I have the same view despite my recent notes. It would probably take an event like Satoshi going public and saying “no to sats - it’s all just Bitcoin”. Or something along those lines. It’s interesting to see how sats evolved as a term and how that might evolve again. Certainly worthy of 🍿

Sats Are The Standard

but 21 million bitcoin cap stays

100 Million sats = 1 bitcoin

simple

Bip 177 maxi 🫡

Nothing would change, it would make all the boomers mad who learned it 1 way and can’t read a BIP. But everyone else would just say that the dust limit of Bitcoin is 330 Bitcoin and that would be that

What if we just call them coins, and reserve a bitcoin to 100m coins

calling the denominations Bitcoin is dumb.

I am only pro changing the name sats to bits because it rolls of the tounge naturally

1 Bitcoin = 100,000,000 bits

increased adoption and usage so that the protocol becomes more resilient
