😂😂 I agree with you, however, I also believe that nostr is missing voices from a number of different communities outside of bitcoin which could broaden our horizons
I'm not talking about individual voices I respect. I'm talking about news media. They're just propaganda rags. If something actually important happens people discuss it here rather than spinning the government narrative.

But to be honest I still have that little voice in my head telling me I should not do that. Not that I don't trust what I read here but I don't think having only one source is a good idea, no matter what the source is...
I've been thinking a lot about it these past few days, I still have to work this out. For now I keep scrolling one news site I used to like but I can't say I'm satisfied... 🤷
Msm are all propaganda rags. There's so much fiction woven into their spin that I may as well be reading The Onion or The Babylon Bee. But at least those are funny sometimes. I listen to individuals I've come to trust over time and consider the opinion of sound money minded people. That works much better for me.

But I actually think that reading other stuff, with the critical perspective allowed by everything we've learned in our Bitcoin journey, makes it very relevant in order to analyze what's going on and where we, at a personal level, really are.
Can be tricky sure but it's definitely worth it. Makes you always second guess what you believe as being true and in the end, at least for me, makes my beliefs even stronger most of the time, a little more nuanced from time to time.
Am I, at least, making any sense? 😅
I spent the first three and a half decades of my life in a religious cult. I know what cults look like. I know how they sound, and I know their tactics. The media, the political parties and the fiat system at large all use the same methods of the cult I came out of. I don't need to explore anymore cult propaganda to sharpen my senses. You do what's best for you, but I'm done giving my time and attention to cults.
Being a bitcoin maximalist is also seen as a cult.
Believing in the principles of sound money based on reason and rational thinking does not make one the member of a cult. Anything *can* be a cult, and a person could make Bitcoin their god and Maximalism their religion if they so choose, but it is not mandatory. I, for one, do not.
That, is a story I wasn't expecting! 🤐

I imagine people on Gab, Minds, Locals, TruthSocial and Mastadon feel they too are finally getting the real truth but how many here would argue that's correct?
I think being open to using other censorship resistant social media sites/apps would be good to avoid accidentally creating our own echo chambers. At least until one of them starts competing with the market shares of FB, Twitter, etc
I don't live in an echo chamber. Nostr is my news source, not my only source of information or worldview. I have friends from all walks of life and live in a community of other people that I work to support. I'm specifically talking about news -- as in, the media, as in, the propaganda rags full of fiction and spin. The past few years made it very clear that they were not to be trusted.
