People (myself included) often assume the highest income counties in the country are going to be in states like CA, NY or FL.

However, they'd be wrong bc listed below is a list of the top 10 counties in the country by median household incomes.

I count 5 out of 10 counties on this list are in the DC Beltway. πŸ‘€

COL is too high in most of those areas, though.

This is an opinion of course, but this is precisely why COL is high. Money attracts money.

When money moves into a neighborhood, it usually raises the price of everything in that area from the $1 water bottle or coffee to the $100k house.

I suppose, but I'm looking for a better income to COL ratio than most of those places offer.

$1 coffee 🀣🀣

Back in 1975, you could find it. You might also find a $100k house in Fairfax County πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜… 🀣 back then too .

Curious about the statistic how many people live full time in these spots. For instance, Teton, completely blown out bc of out of towners using Wyoming as a tax haven, not truly laying out why/what makes these counties wealthy πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Agree πŸ’― on Teton. I used to get up to Crazy Horse every year as part of road trip. A lot of ghost (log) homes.

But these numbers would be generated using 2020 census data, so it should represent the primary resident and occupants for those factored into that calculation.

But I might be off on that.

It’s super interesting info. I do wonder how many use it for tax shelters regardless of the primary residence (tricky ways around it). And yeah Wyoming was the unique one to me. Texas being income tax free I just think of another shelter. Don’t know much about them West Virginians tho lol πŸ˜‚πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ‘Œ
