I like Asus. You may like the zenbook serie. maybe something like UX3402
I strongly recommend to try the keyboard before you buy anything. Go to store, make sure the ergonomy is right for you (layout and everything)

As for money, I just had this rather big fight with my husband and we have account together.ðŸ¤ðŸ‘¿ But I want something rather simple, I don't use it basically for anything but mail, movies and word. Small, I'd prefer small thing.
I was thinking just checking Alza and pick whatever catches my eye, as you say, rather go by feel, since my preferences are rather low. Pay cash or btc, fertig.
But I've been advised to avoid nVidia and the newest stuff🤔
nvidia has proprietary drivers. That may be a challange. But if you're not into gaming opensource nouveau is running just fine.
if you choose progressive distro like fedora (i run it for decades) you'll be fine even with the newest hw.
Without dualboot or virtualized windows forget about app compatibility. running things via wine is not for everyone and it usually sux hard. either they build for linux too or you need to use an alternative sw (and there is an alternative for almost everything).
