nostr:npub1h8nk2346qezka5cpm8jjh3yl5j88pf4ly2ptu7s6uu55wcfqy0wq36rpev I'm listening to your Fiat money's dark secret audible, and I'm currently at the 45m mark.

I had a thought that I wouldn't mind hearing your thoughts about.

You paint a picture where you aren't worried about losing your job over inappropriate conduct because you have a buffer and probably options for employment elsewhere.

But I do imagine that some people will bend over and take shit, not for survival, but for lifestyle or peer pressure. I would assume that actors and actresses are paid well and have buffers, but it is known that the entertainment industry is no fairy tale.

My thought, maybe cynical, is that whatever you earn, you will set yourself a baseline. Unless you actively choose to set a 3 month buffer yourself, many people actively CHOOSE to live paycheck to paycheck (often either to keep up with friends or maybe because society doesn't help them understand it's benefits).

So when it comes to choosing no over yes, you may not consider your buffer as much as you consider social circles, reputation and lifestyle.

I don't know anyone else in my life with a buffer.
