Every privacy-focused protocol that has a shitcoin attached will 100% fail.

Session (messaging app);

NymVPN;

Lokinet;

Arweave;

...the list goes on.

Those shitcoins will trend to zero, guaranteed—and once it gets low enough, there will be no longer any incentive to run the nodes that allow their mechanism to work.

If they chose to integrate bitcoin instead would that mean they would be successful?

not really, e.g. nostr works fine without any token/blockchain or even Bitcoin attached to it.

afaik Arweave was never privacy focused. so just about everything that has a utility token fails, had my lesson learned with LBRY as well. we either build things on top of BTC or XMR or don't build it at all

nym sells plans for btc and xmr but I tried it and went back to mullvad, it just works. even if the token is "not needed" it still makes it worse

the issue is not with what you pay. nym has a token(blockchain), that's how they try to achieve decentralization, but it's down bad, so it's dead just like all other projects

we need protocols that actually work without any token/blockchain (or even Bitcoin) attached to it.
