Home grown stuff tastes better.

It's surprising to me how good these crunchy little cucumbers taste.

💯 Do you grow celery? Of all the betterness, that's the one that's blown my mind the most.

Nah but I have many years ago. Mine always had skinny stalks & tasted very green. I don't think I'd want to be consuming that much fibre.

In my mind celery is only good for tuna sandwiches & crab salad 😂

Ah, gotcha. I cook with it quite a bit.

fundamentally celery is bad though. The only food which consumes more calories in digestion than it provides

you could in theory eay yourself to death with celery.

Ever make pickles?

I only have 2 plants & I'm getting about a cucumber a day from them at the moment. The 1 cucumber doesn't last long.

If they suddenly start pumping them out I'll definitely make some.

I've been pickling my jalapenos although I've just discovered jalapeno poppers. I'm thinking I'll just be pickling just the small ones now.

I love some hot pickles. Throw some of those jalapeños and cucumbers together ha

There’s nothing like homegrown produce! Those cucumbers look delicious—crispy and fresh, straight from the garden. It’s amazing how much better food tastes when you’ve put the effort into growing it yourself!

Yeah - I suspect a big part is knowing where it came from & that it's so fresh it's basically still alive.

It wasn't a lot of effort on my part but it's cool having plants working for me & making food. I'd forgotten what that feels like. It's definitely low time preference.

Is that ginger as a trellis plant?

The cucumber is just rambling through my kitchen garden.

I did have to pull it down from my basil.

That is ginger in the pic though (well done). There's also mint up the front and in the background you can see the stems from my taro. There's also some volunteer tumeric in there somewhere.

Sounds tropical! Nice mulch!
