Im telling you...

Ya'll are underestimating how serious they are about controlling everything on the internet.

I think most of us on Nostr don't, but the X, fb, insta-masses do and they don't care, because of the "I've got nothing to hide" excuse. We've just got to keep working on our own communication networks, programs and protocols in defiance of the systems, at least that way the "nothing to hide" crowd have somewhere to flee when the digital Iron Curtain descends.

How will this work, if digital ID is required to access the internet?

If we get to that point, and I'm sure it'll happen, then we are boned. Independent networks, local mesh wireless networks etc may offer a decentralised version of the net that will work outside of the current system. Don't know how it will work, but I'm confident it will occur. In the 1980's bitcoin would have been seen as science fiction, but today I can send you it instantly, without permission from any government body. Let's be positive, I see the future as an adventure, rather than inevitable doom.

Keep an eye on the Web3 Working Group. They have a running list of decentralized protocols. If the FCC really cracks down, we're gonna need stuff like this alongside Nostr and other freedom tech.

I'm building mesh networks, and also technologies that do not require the internet (or any network for that matter). It's all open source and contributions are welcome.

I'm also defending the ability to use Tor, Briar, and other privacy tools.

Cloudflare makes it more difficult because they can't tell the difference between a GET request with no parameters and a cyber attack.

I don't want the "papers please!" version of the internet that some politicans are pushing.
