What about a bolt like bolt 12 but with a fallback to create eCache tokens if the recipients node is offline. When the node comes back online, the proofs are melted and paid to the node.

I had this exact thought. Ecash when not online, immediate request it redeem when back online.

They did, but it was built on fedimints, rather than cashu.

Correct, it was Fedimint, not a Cashu mint, I remember now. But it's history now unfortunately.

Indeed. I really liked Mutiny Wallet, with its elegant solution to offline receiving, and Nostr integration.

We don't really have anything comparable to fill that gap.
