Just wow... I guess you can't have a run on the exchange if the exchange won't let you have your money 🤯
I don't follow, so I don't know, but I would think coinbase should shift to serve institutional clients rather than the "fractional?" casino they have atm.

Or even be cautious about buying from exchanges in the first place. You might not be able to get it off
If you must, do small amounts at a time. Don’t want to be that guy that sent his life savings to Quadriga to buy bitcoin and never and hadn’t seem his money to this day…

Strike has a similar policy. I too was surprised. I think it's to prevent the sweeping of a wallet via a hack. Maybe some protection for lazies that keep corn on exchanges.
That thing in Coinbase is an account, not a wallet. I'm prettsure it's protection, but for Coinbase so they're not going belly up in a bankrun.
Leaving you #bitcoin on an exchange is like leaving your wages with the company you're working for ..
You spend time --> receive wages into bank
You spend wages --> receive bitcoin into self-custodied wallet
