Wallet of Satoshi is probably easiest. If you get one I'll zap you for no reason whatsoever like the bitcoin circlejerker that I am

isn't it amazing how lightning network is such a steaming pile of dogshit that the very moment someone goes "durr I don't know how to use it pls halp" someone crawls out of the woodwork and immediately recommends a CUSTODIAL wallet? and the same idiot goes prancing around and bragging about how long their e-peen is because they just hate banks so much and their first suggestion for an app to use is literally a FUCKING BANK.

I did see a thing on GitHub about how lightning is just broken and it sucks. What’s a good wallet then?

it's a long story but basically the bitcoin blockchain was gimped on purpose to get people to use the lightning network instead, and the lightning network is broken af. there are no good bitcoin wallets. if you want to know how people allowed this to happen, you can look for yourself and see how stupid and delusional the bitcoin maximalists are and take a guess.

Oh no, let me guess. You're a bcash scammer 👀

Really? Can you explain?

Here’s what I was talking about btw, it btfo’s lightning p hard. https://github.com/davidshares/Lightning-Network

funny thing is bitcoin devs are actually right that it's a good idea to offload some amount of transactions onto a second layer. they just don't know how to do it very well as evidenced by this link. ethereum devs have already implemented multiple ways to do this and they all work better than lightning network.

A centralized, premined shitcoin with Vitalik on the top, wow.

what are the eth options?

someone tried to do a second layer with channels like what lightning does. it didn't really get anywhere. then a sidechain was made and it's still really popular but people acknowledge that sidechains are not as secure. now there are optimistic rollups, but they're still not perfect and have some limitations. rollups secured by zero knowledge proofs are better. until just recently nobody had a working zero knowledge rollup that could do smart contracts.

Here are your ETH roll ups

?odnHeight=450&odnWidth=450&odnBg=ffffff

any links? roll ups and zkp sound interesting

its great people continue to explore new things as blockchains have big problems

it really really irritates me how bitcoin maximalists pretend that everything they have is perfect and everyone else is wrong. there are so many ways to do this and we still don't know the perfect way to do it. if somebody ever tries to sell you a solution and they won't ever discuss any of its flaws, they are trying to deceive you.

perfection is an impossibilty we can only humbly hope to improve things, blind luck might have us stumble on something radically better, the cypherpunks worked a long time to get to bitcoin

i am not a maximalist btw, just someone trying to expand freedom and consciousness

If someone ever tries to sell you a solution and it has another token, it's a scam.

All work better, having its own token.

#Bitcoin has more L2 solutions than LN but scammers will never tell you that.

That's why it keeps growing, lol

Madoff did a p good job of growing his network too.

Sure, comparing a layer built on top of the most decentralized monetary network in the world to a scammer. Great argument indeed.

Bitcoin isn’t decentralised at all. About 40% of nodes are on AWS, Amazon actually controls the network.

What fact? 👀

Bitcoin is the most decentralized network in the world. You've been lied to.

Give me a link you your 40% claim 😂

I don't know which 40% claim you're looking for since my client is all kinds of broken, but I do have a 41% claim here

So you are 41% retarded indeed. Good to know.

How many #nostr clients have you tried so far. How many have you developed?

Hey, don't get mad at me. That's not my report.

I tried one called Gossip that required me to download half the entire Rust database of libraries and nearly melted my computer compiling, and it looks like something written in Java in the early 90s.

That and Iris.

Installing gossip took me about 30 seconds. Yes, it looks like something from last century. If your computer struggled with that, get a new one.

😂😂🤣

Lmaooooo bro is confused with mETH

awesome resource thanks

the current state of bitcoin is the result of the block size debate. people came up with the idea that if you add more than 2 mb of data to the ledger every ten minutes, it will cause all our dicks to fly off. they even invented a slur for people who don't believe this. they had to invent the rube goldberg machine known as the lightning network in order to uphold this dogma, and it took them so long to make something that looked sort of usable that many people just abandoned bitcoin entirely. a small number of people tried to fork bitcoin and were not very successful.

What was the slur? How many mb should it have been?

Yet, you forget to check the size of current #Bitcoin blocks, before you opened your mouth. 👀

Houston, we gave a butthurt bsver

a big issue with blockchains is they continue to grow in size, it would be great if you could just reset them at intervals and scrap most of the data

That data is people's money.

Please sit this one out lol 😂

in bitcoin that's called UTXO commitments. they didn't implement it yet. I don't know the ETH equivalent since they don't use the UTXO model. I do know that ETH has a lot more data that isn't settled history and it's a bigger challenge to do away with it, but there is a similar concept called state expiry that they are looking into.

from https://developer.bitcoin.org/devguide/operating_modes.html

Future Proposals¶

There are future proposals such as Unspent Transaction Output (UTXO) commitments in the block chain to find a more satisfactory middle-ground for clients between needing a complete copy of the block chain, or trusting that a majority of your connected peers are not lying. UTXO commitments would enable a very secure client using a finite amount of storage using a data structure that is authenticated in the block chain. These type of proposals are, however, in very early stages, and will require soft forks in the network.

Until these types of operating modes are implemented, modes should be chosen based on the likely threat model, computing and bandwidth constraints, and liability in bitcoin value.

How exactly would you reset #Bitcoin blockchain data? Like remove the history? 👀

no idea

Sounds like my #Bitcoin II idea.

Imagine we can keep all coins in our heads, are able to transact using telekinesis, zero fees, including intergalactic and transdimensional transfers. Each transaction will remove one plastic straw and change it to an affordable housing. It will also make the sender 6.15 minute younger. The receiver will gain 21 seconds.

The whole system will be much more decentralized, censorship resistant, anonymous and absolutely perfect in any sense since day one.

I just have no idea how to do it.

#[11] is second bitcoin dev and one of those early departers over ideological disagreements with bitcoins path, he is here tho on nostr

hopefully we can come to something better thru these new social tools exchanging ideas

o.O your alternate view point is interesting i would love to hear more

It's not perfect but it works pretty great most of the time. Wallet of Satoshi is popular, so is Phoenix wallet. You can see the Live Zaps going on, on nostr, at zaplife.lol

Phoeni, Breez or Blixt. All three can be connected to your own node later on. If you want to receive zaps here, use the custodial wallet of satoshi and move the #sats to one of the wallets above. Baby steps.

Your head is such a steaming pile of shit.

Go ahead and explain to a newbie how they have to run a node to receive a zap. Great job!

Funny comment

You assume the "newbie" even wants to do gay crypto microtransactions in the first place.

Nostr was developed *specifically* to avoid needing crypto and other blockchain bullshit involved, aside from signing messages.

#nostr doesn't need crypto scam tokens, that's correct. #Bitcoin makes it better, though

Better, so everyone can talk about "zapping" each other while making the soyjak face?

I literally coom my pants every time someone sends me $0.03 worth of Bitcoin for an epic post. lnbc1250n1p3ldfe2pp58knszw2pnhac0sknk2gmrzlh8kqu2lcmmgl3d5c60xj5vg6z9susdqu2askcmr9wssx7e3q2dshgmmndp5scqzpgxqyz5vqsp57dwzsmauk8ujqsz4thtg56wftqx9hxzqldm6hj6h0xkf7x6xcg4s9qyyssqtjv2zjngvkv3zx2jylzjtwrnyy4q3tf78snekjhxu6lvd0lzr5v8tlf9n3xt5utr0f08nlyyh9m2ex78p0g6jqxkgm9xmujeqq8m7zcpnx0kv0

Now my made-up internet points are (theoretical, with a government-approved exchange) REAL MONEY! If I post hard enough today, I might be able to afford ramen noodles!

And you're back to the dollar price of #Bitcoin because that's all you nocoiners seem to see.

It's all anyone living in the real world sees, too.

No. Better so I can easily pay for a relay or to support a developer of the app I like.

Talking about, have you already tried amethyst?

I got a node, you gonna zap me?

Yeah man. If you're worried about losing a few bucks and don't want an easy zap setup, definitely don't use Wallet of Satoshi. Use Blue Wallet. But if you're not a fucking retard and are cool putting a few bucks in custody and zapping then don't worry about chuds.

Aren’t custodial wallets centralised?

Centralized point in a decentralized network. So am I, you or anyone else.

Can the wallet operator control the network? Of course not.

you can also try and learn to run your own Bitcoin lightning node if you want to be in full control - there's also Phoenix and Breez wallet that allegedly act like a ln node on your phone (but idk - have to check it for myself too)
