A new goal of mine is to not talk politics with anyone & wherever we disagree - I usually say "I don't vote in elections anyways, so what do I even care".

Discussion

I'm struggling between this and just coming out of the closet and dealing with the aftermath. Neither seem very fun.

Why is it a struggle to discuss favorable topics that aid in cohesion?

Look, if I feel like I'm having a genuine discourse & I've been building rapport with someone, I can discuss other topics.

But I always discuss libertarianism & not what I don't like about the current establishment.

It's mostly because of this insane cultural divide between the right and left. People I know completely demonize any right-wing view regardless of how levelheaded it seems. The intolerance is what makes it hard to have honest, critical discussions. It ends up just being an echo chamber wherever you go.

The way you view the world is irrelevant to me though.

It's how you support your local community that shows me who you really are.

I'm friends with a ton of people who I don't agree with politically whatsoever, not even close, but I fostered those relationships over more important things - like supporting farmers & local do-ers & makers.
