#asknostr Reee: YouTube content moderation, video platforms

Noob question.... Are youtube's content moderation policies a sign of things to come to all video platforms? So they are anticipating this before being forced to implement? Or overcautious because of their size / reach / possible legal issues?

My real question is, are these same moderation policies going to come to youtube alts like odysee and rumble (there is the exception of Rumble apparently being banned in Brazil)? Youtube alts, who have up till now had 'good enough' moderation parameters to cater to video content creators who have been banned off YouTube? Obviously this would wipe them out of existence, no?

I've noticed that videos with music that I try to upload to rumble just never finish processing. I guess they haven't worked out music licensing yet.

Interesting 🤔

Reee indeed. Their moderation policies highlight the incentive problem that comes with being subsidized by advertisers who squirm at certain themes and words. YouTube is an insanely overvalued platform, and the alts use similar strategies, so yes, it's gonna be a problem for the alts eventually. I think the only way those platforms can survive is by adopting a value-for-value model or a subscription model with no free version

Yes, they do all seemingly have the same business model, (and all ooperating at a loss? Not sure). Except for odysee which has their shitcoin maybe (which potentially causes them some issues?).

I forgot they have a shitcoin lol. A temporary solution before they get charged for securities fraud

Yea, their future does seem very uncertain.
