Yeah you have made vague comments about the situation.

Working to bring about a third option at some point in the future (which I support) is not the same about speaking up about what is actively happening now.

Saying you’re frustrated with both sides adds nothing to the conversation.

Discussion

It actually adds to the discussion. It shows there is third side (most of the people) who think both sides of this debate are stupid.

Your desire to see everyone clearly aligned with one of two sides shows your brain damage from too much exposure to modern US politics.

Brother….. just say you haven’t been paying attention and therefore don’t have strong opinions on the matter.

There are only 2 sides. Side 1 supports what core is doing. Side 2 does not support what core is doing. It’s not rocket science. You can make a decision without hitching yourself to knots.

I don’t have a “desire” to see everyone pick a side. Only those whose opinions matter and can make a difference.

I have been paying too much attention .. Hours of podcasts and discussions here ...

I will probably just run core 29 just to humble those blue haired core devs.

But that's it. Apart from this signaling it does not matter what mempool policy I or anybody else (except mining pools, which are like 10 entities) runs on their node.

100kB OP_RETURN is consensus.

And it does not even make sense to use it for spam since ordinals use witness data which is cheaper and has no limit (whole block can be 1 jpeg)

Running v29 forever is not a solution

Hosting and distributing 100kb of contiguous CSAM blobs is a real and obvious risk

Running a node will become a liability

So much for sovereign money and not trusting third parties

Yes. I actually agree with his point.

He is not sus. Just the discussion does not make sense.

Mem pool policy does not in reality prevent sb from uploading whatever he wants to OP_RETURN. That is the fact. If I wanted to add 100kB csam there, I could do it now.

It does not really matter what default value is in core 30 config, because miners are running custom configs anyway (like sub sat per vbyte fees).

But you will not believe me, because you have some influencers telling you this is extremely important. It is not. It is of average importance at most.

If it doesn’t matter, why change it? The „they are already doing it, so we’ll just make it easier“ argument ….But in reality, it does matter.

I don't want to be unnecessarily disrespectful but this discussion has metastasized way out of proportion.

Anyone can mine 100kB OP_RETIRN currently. Spammers are mining 4MB jpegs in witness data with witness discount.

Apart from Luke's convoluted logic on "misinterpretation of data" there is no difference between csam in OP_RETURN or OP_FALSE (ordinals).
