It is a way to verify you’re who you say you are. For example, if I’m a blogger with a website, I can use NIP-05 to link myself to my website domain and it will verify who I am. The verification will fail if you used my address with your public key.

You can only if your Alby Account is linked to some node like your own, legacy Alby Account or Alby Hub!

So new Alby accounts don't have this feature?

They do - but to use your getalbycom personal address as LNURL, you need to have some wallet service (ie. external wallet or Alby Hub). Sorry if it's confusing!
