What do you mean? We don't have any reports on DMs not working.
Bringing family on board is so much easier with the support of nostr β€οΈ I learned this today while orange pilling my father!

Iβve asked for priv group chats before )): if you ever make them make sure you can accept or deny entry to said group chat as well as option to exit it!
How would that even work though? Multisig by all in the group? Shared priv key for those who are allowed to join? How would you be able to kick people out? Would that even be a feature we want?
He might be referring to notifications. Android is pretty aggressive at killing backround apps. To really do background notifications on par with SMS, Snapchat, etc. you'll need to use the Android push API.
The client could tell a push server 'watch for type 4 messages to my nsec on theae relays', the push server would listen, then send a push to the client telling it to wake up and check for the DM. The DMs remain secure because the push server isn't working as a proxy and doesn't ever need the client's private key.
You need much more. Basically you need to implement Singal over Nostr
Currently messages are encrypted but that's it. All metadata are available (who messaged who and when), am I correct?
