So if I have to do another extra step for doing Cashu privacy payments over lightning. Why wouldn't I just swap btc for xmr and do privacy much easier than this non custodial mint stuff? Asking for a friend.

"Because you don’t touch the evil xmr"

Well I've touched it and played with it and I'm not dead. πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ

You n me both lol well maxis will have you thinking otherwise

Man, I'm for what works the best and is easiest to use. I can do monero as it works just like bitcoin, and it's self custody... All the other bullshit πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ I can barely figure it out... I'm 55 BTW. I just want something that works without any extra BS.

I can *so* relate to this note. I don't consider myself a "monero maxi" in as much as I was just looking around to find a crypto that had privacy and monero fit the bill above all others. It just works.

The only small issue is the sync times with Monero wallets, especially mobile ones.

well and malicious nodes

and transparency to the swap service

stuff like that

Use your node if you can. Monero nodes don't take up too much space yet.

I’m Bullish on Hard Drive Technology πŸ‘€.

Yeah, I don't get on my wallet often it took forever to sync.

it all changes when you have a local node at home

Every Bitcoiner is supposed to run a node anyways. So shouldn't be too hard for Bitcoiners to make it work.

It's actually more easy. But when you do it make sure you connect via Tor or i2p.

Syncing done in seconds after that.

Even with Mobile? Feather on desktop over local node is very fast but mobile clients are always slow for me over Tor.

FYI for those that don't have their own node Cake Wallet has background sync so you're always near the chain tip. Basically eliminates sync times.

Is that mechanism open sourced and can I run if myself? I personally want to use my own node as much as possible.
