I've seen those. It is a pretty good system, I think.

bulgarian bathrooms are the best in the world
tiled to the ceiling, you can take that hose and blast the whole damn room down, for those cases where you have a friend showing up after two bottles of absinthe
Yup. I love the idea of the whole space being a "wet" room. That is how I will have my won bathrooms in the house I build.
yeah that's exactly how they build them
also the floors are usually raised, there is embedded drains underneath in the space, and it's very rare that they are not made so no water pools ever, except a tiny bit in the bevels of the tiles
and ALWAYS drains in the floor
never seen such well thought out bathrooms in my life
and very often bathtubs as well, in the older buildings
might have been communism but i think the bathtub probably helped compensate
Commies do occasionally get something correct.
bulgaria was the thermal springs of the roman empire, one of the highest density regions for thermal baths in all of europe, there is ones in varna, and several nearby sofia, the centre of sofia has a bathhouse that is sadly no longer in use but outside you can bottle all the hot, high-fluoride spring water you want... nice comfy 44 degrees, very ideal for a hot bath
Gosh, y'all are making me want to want to visit eastern Yurp.
it's totally worth a look... from czech, to slovak, to hungary, to serbia, to bosnia, to montenegro, to bulgaria, to romania, i can reccommend all of them for a visit... bulgaria used to be awesome but now it's a bit meh, i kinda prefer bosnia
And add Italy to the mix.
It's worth just for pleasure of driving there and of course food.
oh yeah... yugoslavia anywhere for the food, italy is good also, and the coffee bellisimo... don't waste your time with food in bulgaria, the food there is terrible, and was 12 years ago too, they don't seem to believe in beef for a long time
I hated traveling through Italy via a train that was literally from the 1930s. 4the views were amazing but the trouble ofngetting around was so bad.
I have never driven anywhere in Yurp.
I love driving car in Italy. Best experience around here. Very smooth, predictable and yet totally flexible ignoring any rules when needed.
Not much experience with trains, though I know they have decent network of high speed ones.
Nah. It's just different culture standard. Not communism.
Very similar setup in whole central Europe.
yeah, germans and austrians make awesome toilets, no problem with skidmarks... saw a lot of them in the netherlands too
but i think part of it has to do with the natural water supplies that were around, and in the case of some places, the hot springs
the romans and their aqueducts... this island #madeira is covered in them because of the tall mountain it rains on one side and is sunny and warm all year round on the other, so they had to build channels to divert the springwater to where they were comfy
i can assure you, it was a good idea, it's pretty cold here on the north side all year around, until this last month.
Yes. That's what I'm trying to say. It's coming from culture, much deeper and older then few decades of communism :)
That makes sense. It is so deep even the commies couldn't erase it in a few decades.
Yeah. This is general.
Many people overestimate communism in this sense.
But look what was in central Europe before. Nacism. And before that? Austro-Hungarrian empire. The most of backwards of all the European monarchies.
In practical terms people many centuries under some form of feudalism.
The roots are very deep. I'm not sure if many Americans appreciate how good it is to have so long tradition in "freedom"
No. We do not.
We're powerful, rootless idiots. The worst kind.
yeah, and before the austro-hungarians was the ottomans
things are still better, in a lot of ways, especially for eastern and central europe, everything up to czech/slovak/hungary/poland/slovenia this boundary is basically where europe gets better
things are not terrible in the southwest but i'm in portugal and that's probably as low as i'd be willing to go these days, i long for bosnia again
Hey, we had metal straws in 1st republic. way before paper straws were cool 😂
Fuck paper straws lol glass or metal only
😁
Hipster feudalism 😁
women and their straws
i mean, it's so obviously something more than just ... well i'll just leave it at that anyway
i had one lady lure me with her straw selfies, put it this way
