What is the best way to grow your circle here though? Many of my initial âfollowersâ appear to be bots. Whatâs the best way to get yourself out there to get those interactions? Tags? Tagging people?
Follow a lot more people and interact with posts/people you find interesting. Itâs easy enough to unfollow uninteresting or problematic accounts later on. Thereâs no FYP algo here pumping content you âmightâ be interested in into your feed, so it really is just about who you follow and interact with.
Thank you. I appreciate the follow-up and the follow. Though I wasnât fishing for the follow I appreciate it. đ€Ł I have been trying to interact and whatnot so more time is needed. This is a new space for me so figuring out the ins and outs has been challenging.
Ha đ happy to follow đ«Ą Itâs a different environment here for sure. I find it feels a bit more like in-person social dynamics than other social media. Sometimes your feed is just, sometimes it isnât. Depends who you follow and what theyâre posting, how much youâre replying to them and vice versa. You just kind of get to know people over time and they get to know you. The BS influencer engagement farming you see on platforms like X donât really gain traction here because itâs just people pushing content, not algos. That said, there are a couple clients/apps toying with algo/custom feeds. Primal and Nostr.band have some. Itâs nice that theyâre completely optional though.

While true, be aware what the hashtag is for. Don't just slap #grownostr on anything to get views. The idea for the hashtag was to post content that isn't about Nostr or Bitcoin, so that folks can easily have a feed filled with a variety of other content.
Counting followers in decentralized network is a problem
Itâs meaningless. I still wish clients would get rid of âfollower countâ and instead show a list of people you interact with and who interact back with you.
I would like to show it inaccurately⊠something like: 1K, 2K, 5K, 10K, 15K, 20K⊠and so on
I guess I am not doing something right to satisfy the people here. I also find it hard for my brain engaging with anon accounts with no knowledge of who I am speaking to which adds a layer of strangeness. I have very deep connections with fb friends. Some on insta from irl but I never hung out there much after I let go of my IG training course a decade ago. A lot of my connects are 10-16 year rapport and so we know each other and have been through a lot together. They know me and I know them and we have common ground on some level. Perhaps you have the Bitcoin common ground with people here.
I sure do have that and Nostr that are aligned with top values of mine. But my heart is craving deeper connections outside of just this. I am a versatile and quirky weird person and have desire to connect on more than just two things. I share myself but most often it's crickets on the other side and I am left feeling needing to accept I won't get this need fulfilled here.
But I do love to engage with others and react and comment on their notes with hope I am part of the solution I am looking for... I.e. building a culture of interactions and connection.
I find Nostr generally anti social... And after a year the quality of interactions are lacking and no where near the hear filling personal touch I get from my Facebook friends. Facts. People can say it's for boomers but that's where people who are personable with my shares happen to be. I've now been losing that real life need of connection because I have been a Nostr maxi for a while for the principle and don't post on fb to satisfy algos to show me to my friends... Even still I'd get a quality interaction when I do that is > than the likes of follows
Interesting perspective. I find it the exact opposite. My FB and IG accounts are nearly useless to me compared to the connections and quality interactions I get here on nostr.
