OpenAI is considering launching a social media app / platform. This feels like something we should pay attention to, but also where Nostr could compete using open models and our protocol.

Seems like a step backwards in a way. Social media is the past, and AI is the future, etc.
But then again, would be a trove of first party data.
It'll be a bot-first social network and therefore won't have to attempt some kind of "bots are welcome too" framing act to appease an existing (and skeptical) user-base.
Everyone is worried about how to censor abuse content on social networks. Finally someone steps up and makes a social network for and about abusing your family members.*
