I believe it’s not so much hate for the NIP, but rather for the way it’s being implemented in Amethyst. When Amethyst users upload images using the feature then its incompatible with other clients and the images don’t display. Also many relay operators are blocking/deleting the notes because they don’t want to directly host image files. And if users select the non-NIP94 way of uploading photos, apparently they’re being shown a warning that it’s being shared in an insecure manner.

Yeah I noticed the warning today, but I believe it is only connected to the fact that the image is hosted on a third, centralized party.

I'd hate to see Vitor being picked on for his amazing work.

the warning is FUD

Yea nothing needs to get personal. But it’s ok for there to be strong opinions on each side, and that’s what I’ve seen from what I’ve been about to follow. It’s clear Nostr is at a very early stage regarding NIP94/95. It was good that Vitor added the option to choose your image upload method. But the warning feels pretty overkill and the average user is naturally going to select the “secure” option instead of the “insecure” option. But then they are surprised to learn their images aren’t viewable on other clients or they even get deleted from relays. That’s an unacceptable user experience.
