I understand that it's important for new users to get some initial content, but I am not a fan of every client just offering the same 10-50 nost followed nostr-celebrities to start.

Nostr is much more diverse and IMHO the onboarding process should offer profiles based on interests / topics. Maybe even a way to follow specific hashtags to find people to follow.

thank for your feedback, I will add more people, maybe fetch trending profiles from nostr.band, and add option to skip this step

Id explore interest-based. Who you follow will be the primary reason for dropping off. This is a major problem in nostr right now.

This is better. Have people select interests and topics, then recommend follows via people that are associated with those.

This feature is not ready at launch, but I'm working on it 🔥

Fetching trending profiles would diversify a bit more, but it's also the same people that trend for the most part.

I’m not sure why the ability to follow specific hashtags isn’t more widely adopted. I might be missing something basic but I know you can search for them but I haven’t yet seen how to follow a hashtag by itself.

Follow me. And wait, less than a week.

Follows. Communities. Topics.

Version 1 already released https://nostr.kiwi/

Massive changes in version 2.

Consider using a "Tribes" intro.

Tribes can be a group of users that have things in common.

Introduce an "interests" section in the profile settings. Let them work like tags.

Introduce a graph of common interest offerings.

Then offer a list of initial followers based on that and what the new person enters as interests.
